Deborah V. McDonald, CPA
Debbie graduated with honors from Texas Tech University in 1979 with a BBA in accounting. That same year, she passed all four parts of the CPA exam. She obtained her license to practice public accounting at the age of 21. Upon graduation she worked for the international accounting firm of Deloitte, Haskins and Sells, now Deloitte and Touche, in San Antonio. After two years on the audit staff, Debbie moved to Uvalde to join Coleman, Horton, and Company, LLP. In 1989 she was admitted to the partnership.Read More...
Derek L. Walker, CPA
Derek began his career with our firm in July of 2002. He graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a Master of Accountancy degree while playing college football for the UTEP Miners. Derek is a native to the Uvalde area and is well-tuned to the needs and wants of the clients he serves. He has 17 years of experience in all areas of practice provided by the firm. He is the lead partner in various audits of public school districts, cities and other audit clients. Melinda was awarded a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a Master of Accountancy degree from Baylor University in 2008. She began her career in public accounting with global firm Ernst & Young, LLP in San Antonio in 2009. During her tenure with Ernst & Young, Melinda had the opportunity to work with financial service clients in a supervisory capacity. Melinda earned her CPA certificate in 2010 and was one of a small percentage of candidates who passed all four parts of the CPA exam on her first attempt. Staff Accountant - CPA Candidate
Rebecca was raised in Pasadena Texas. After graduating high school she joined the U.S. Army. Serving 10 years as a Medical Laboratory Technician in various hospitals across the United States, she left the Army understanding dedication and had a desire to learn something new and challenging. She settled in San Antonio to attend The University of the Incarnate Word while being close to her family in the Houston area. In December 2019, she earned her Bachelors of Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. In December 2020, she graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word with a Masters of Science in Accounting. This upcoming year she will begin sitting for her CPA examination. Moving to Uvalde in 2018 was a welcome change from the big city pace. Rebecca joined Coleman Horton as her first internship in February 2020. After the completion of her internship, she chose to stay on with Coleman Horton, learning from the many combined years of experience of the staff and partners. In her time not dedicated to work or studying, Rebecca enjoys fostering for the Humane Society of Uvalde, sharing her love for animals with her children. She, her husband and kids also enjoy traveling, hiking and finding new experiences as a family. She typically has 3 or 4 books she is in the middle of reading. Tiffany was raised in Uvalde, Texas, she graduated from Uvalde High School in 2008. Shortly after graduating she moved to East Texas and began working as a receptionist and billing coordinator at a small repossession agency. After moving back home to be closer to family, she began working for a locally owned, community bank for 8 years where she gained experience in accounts payable, human resources, customer service and compliance. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with family and especially enjoys being an aunt. She enjoys serving as a worship leader and Sunday school teacher at her church. Misti grew up in the suburbs of Dallas, Texas until she was an early teen, after which her family moved to West Texas and then on to Anchorage, Alaska where she met her husband and started a family. After her husband finished his enlistment with the US Army they moved to the Naples, Florida area where she started her career in bookkeeping. Misti spent the next 20 years working in Florida in the construction industry as a bookkeeper, office manager, payroll manager and human resource coordinator. She began and continued her studies in tax and accounting in Austin, Texas and comes to us from a nationally recognized tax preparation firm. She brings 20 years of accounting, bookkeeping and tax experience to our team. Her experience includes six years in a management role with a tax preparation firm.
